Answer to Charles R Price, dated 1-21-2014

Maxie Lane Price was assigned to A btry, 2/77 Fa.
He was sent out with an Infantry unit as an RTO for their forward Observer. Maxie was KIA on 1-26-1968. I don't know which Infantry unit he was with at the time of his death!

Admin reply: Steve,

Thanks for that information. I found more information about Maxie at The Virtual Wall at http://www.virtualwall.org/dp/PriceML02a.htm I am a volunteer there and according to a database we use, the incident was reported in the After Action Report of the 2nd Battalion 12th Cavalry found at Texas Tech, ID number 168300010181 which is a pdf file. Three (3) other men were killed in a mortar attack on FSB Burt, 19 KM S-SE of Katum Airfield. Two of the men made it to the hospital but died later the same day. PFC Edward J Craig and 1LT Reginal A Stancil both A Battery, 1-77th and PFC James C Curtin, B Company 2-12th are the others killed in that action. Jack M, webmaster.

Admin reply: Thank you for sharing that information. I know of several of our association members having served at Sou Tre with the 77th. I know that there are photos on the 2nd Battalion's website at http://277arty.net/souitrealbum.html

This is the first 2014 guestbook entry using a new software for guestbooks that was loaded today.

Time permitting, I hope to also create new membership and feedback forms that can be emailed to us. Our original membership and feedback links/procedures are broken at present and will take more time to try to fix that it will take to create new software code.

Thanks and wishing all a prosperous 2014.

Webmaster

Admin reply: If you wish to contact this person, send email to Webmaster@77fa.org
