Hello Doc, Col. , Mike, Lt Ron W, and everyone. Doc, I keep looking at our wonderfull web site and always informed on the latest news. All of you do a great job. If any of you are at the 1st Cav reunion, I'll see you. Bob I know you'll be there. I just finished sending my third 'care' package to cpt. Shawn Bault. I saw a special on the Military Channel, and things have changed more than from Desert Storm. It is amazing the support they get. Hot showers every day!!!. But I would't wnat to go thru what they do every day. God Bless all of You. Jack

I was 23 years old and I reported in and the 1st Sergeant said he was leaving the next day. The Battery Commander said him and the Battery Clerk would take care of the orderly room and I would be the Chief of firing Battery. I shared the duties of Chief of firing Battery with SSG Bullard a fine man.

I am pleasantly suprised to find this web site for the Veterans who served in this unit as part of the 1st Air Cavalry Division, located in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. My short tour was from August 65 to Jan 66. I begin to do this research after attending the lst Cavalry Division Reunion in Washington, DC last week. Please pass on this contact information to my former buddies in the unit to see if we can reconnect after all these years: 1) David Lutes, PFC, and Capt. Cordell P. Olive Thanks

Served as Battery Commander of A Btry, 77th FA from May 1991 thru August 1992 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. We were part of 1st Battalion 10th Calvary Combined Arms Task Force which was comprised of three armor companies, two infantry companies, an artillery battery, and a headquarters & headquarters company. The battalion was part of the old 194th Separate Armor Brigade. We had eight M109A3 155 self-propelled howitzers for two firing platoons, two FDC sections, five FIST teams, a commo section, a survey section, a ammo section, and a maintenace section. It was quite a large battery. At one time we had more than 200 personnel which included 10 officers. I had two platoon leaders, two FDO's, and five FIST lieutenants. We were quite a hand full for the old First Sergeant.

I just met a nephew who lost an Uncle in RVN on May 21, 1970. I was still in the bush then as FO and I believe with B Company, 2nd of 8 or 1st of 8 CAV but trying to confirm that fact. I was on your site today and did note some of the other names I served with i.e. Paul Baldassano; Donald Pelkey; Gary Weir; ???Satterfield (Was it by chance Paul???); Bill Coe Jr; Jim Palusczak (We R&R'd in Hawaii during the same week); Gen(RET)Carl Vuono (I intervieweed him for slot in rear but got sent to the B Battery); my gain; Billy Bilo was CDR - I am sure we all remember him. If anyone can confirm who B, 1-77 was in support of in May 70, would appreciate. I think the CO of the Company was Chuck ? Hobson. Jack Morrison

Ussery family still searching for anyone who knew or served with Carl Ussery, or who might recall a helicopter crash, reportedly west of Camp Evans, late September, 1968. We also invite 1/77 members serving in Vietnam in 1968 to view the pictures of unknown comrades that Carl had taken in Vietnam. We suspect some of these could be 1/77 comrades, some of which were probably attached to HHC/A Co. 1/5 Cav as he was. These can be found at the www.ranger25.com web site under HHC and Artillery, 1/5 photographs. If you know any of these men, we would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

I finally found this website and I hope that others from my unit will log on. I really miss the friends I had and would love to meet up with them again. I served during peace time, but I must admit that when I see the Howitzers on the news, it brings back memories of the competitions to raise the nets the fastest. Peace be with all of you and may God Bless you and your families.

My wife,Ruth, and I attended the Tribute to the Nation at Fort Knox this morning with a concert before the main ceremony. A round was fired for each state in order of the date date they joined. I try to make it each year that we are at home. Maybe soon we will ahve a real Artillery Battalion to fire the salutes again soon. I did visit the 1st Bn, 77th FA at Fort Sill when I was in Lawton 22-25 June. Again the unit was doing soldier's work, but I was shown the conference room, with memorabilia from past maneuvers. Even saw some of my soldiers in pictures on the wall. Did make it to Chevoney Hall. Happy 4th of July to all. Ed Tucker CSM USA RET

I was talking to a marine vet and I mentioned that on occasion, the whole base at Dau Tieng would get a call from the brass to have a Mad Minute. I think I remember about 4 of them...lost a bit of hearing due to the guy next to me. What I was hoping to find out, if anyone remembers them, why we had them. The Mad Minute consisted of everyone going out the the perimeter and shooting their weapons for about....you got it, a minute. This vet buddy says he never heard of that. Does anyone remember those??

Three months from today we will all either be at home or on the way home thinking about all the things that went on at the Convention at Ft Hood. Also thinking about the things that you wanted to say but couldn't seem to find the right words to say it to your best friends that you will ever have in this life that we are in today. Believe you me I go to a lot of Conventions an its always the same. You wanted to say things but couldn't find the right words to say in in. So come on out to Ft Hood an enjoy the lifetime that you will ever have in this lifetime. Don't to forget to ask at the desk at the Plaza where the HOSPITALITY ROOM is.TOP VERNOR

I am so glad to find this site. For years I have remembered a commrad that had fallen on 7-4-68 at Dau Tieng. Over the years the name became foggy. But I always thought I new the last name. Sure enough, I found it here. Bradley Bowers. A real nice guy. But my close buddies were Alfred Baez and Jerry Finch, both from southern Calif. Another brother who had fallen that same day as Mr. Bowers is Eugene LYnn Markley. He was in the same unit as I but I don't remember him. Moslty clerks and cooks were manning the perimeter that we were responsible for guard duty. U.S. forces were concentrating troops and logistics towards the south and my unit was deployed to Saigon. One of my radios was acting up so I hitched a plane ride back to Dau Tieng. In the middle of the night I awoke to see flares in the sky. By the time I found anyone, daylight broke and I learned that Bradley Bowers was KIA. Say, did anyone bring home one of those guitars we used to play over there? I have been looking for one. Anyway...bless you all......bless all of you, and your families. Robert

Was very surprised to see a pic of me (actually one of the very same I have) on the photo section of your web site. Also I noticed in the roster for the 1/77 there is a Raymond Harlan listed. Was curious if this could be me just a typo. Full name Everette Ray Harlan.

1-77th FA supported our company - A Company, 2-5 Cav. I was company commander. First Lieutenant Rainey Burch was our FO. He was absolutely outstanding and walked every mile with us from the mountains to the coast - took part in numerous air assaults and was an expert artilleryman. I see he has been "located" but I'd like to know where Rainey is. Thanks!

My father commanded the 1-77 FA from '72-74. I later served in the 1-77 FA from '80 - 84 including deployments to Camp Irwin, CA ('81), Camp Drum, NY ('82), and REFORGER '83. Today, I command the 18th FA Brigade (Airborne) at Fort Bragg. The 1-77 FA was one of the 18th FA Brigade's battalions back in the early 1940's.

Hi Doc. It was a great to see the picture of myself and Steve Ybarra on the front page of the 77 Arty Assoc. Thanks. I will be sending a bunch of pictures on the guys from A Battery 2/77 in the next few weeks. Steve just sent his and am waiting on others. Great site, keep up the excellent work. I wish I could join you at the activation of the 77th but am fighting cancer, and winning, at this time. Will catch up with you later.

Hey guys. I'm planning on attending the re-activation of our 2/77th. I hope to see tons of us there. Lets show some support. We did our job back in Nam, but here's our chance to let our fellow cannoncockers know we're behind them all the way. Especially you guys from A Btry. We have a fire mission, lets get to it!
